doing my bit thru http://www.myshutterspace.com 🙂
@Rashmi: Didn’t get you. Did you mean you already do peer-peer transactions through myshutterspace?
Nice, I can get some lens right next door now 🙂
One thing I have observed in most of rentals is not having filters, it will be a nice extra touch to give the lenses for rent along with some use full common filters, like polarizer and ND for wide angles.
Filters are a good idea.. but tough to handle in a rental as they aren’t as rugged as these lenses.
And I am absolutely possesive abt my Singh Ray GND and BW Kaemann polarizer :-(.
Btw, on a wide angle at say 10mm, a polariser would produce a very varied sky as the area of polarization is too much and the sky would look weird.
Prem,
Great to see you kicking this off. The prices look great and will surely recommend this to all the people in the workshops as well.
But just a note : most of often than not, people want to hire gear which either is too expensive for them to buy or is not available. I personally would like to see things which I cannot get easily.. from camera traps, good filters, litepanel lights, underwater casing etc.
The other bit is people who travel only 10 days a year and do not want to invest on a big 500mm lens just for it. Anyway hope this takes off and will get you enough funds to get some of the bigger lenses.
and I would like to have a D3s which I could rent once in a while 😉
Kalyan
Prem, This one is really interesting and quite bold!
🙂 Believe it or not, i have been fancying this same idea for few years but could not get around to push myself into making it real!!
Wish you best of luck!
Thanks for the comment Kalyan. Good to see your opinion… helps a lot.
The actual idea is to create a platform where people can rent their equipment to their peer circle. The idea is not to be corporatised, but create a friendly community of renters and rentee’s.
If the idea works out to be minimally viable, I would be willing to get a few long lenses and other accessories too, which I need myself anyways.
If I have your permission, will mention that you have a D3s on rent too.
@Avinash: Thanks for the comment.
Yup, I know quite a few friends who want to rent their equipment.
That is exactly where I want to help. Create a platform for people to rent their stuff to their immediate and next to immediate circle!
The more people come forward, the more sooner that is going to happen!
Hey Good to see this Prem. Although not happy that i now have to pay you which i’d earlier have borrowed 🙂
The prices are a huge plus, but be careful who you’d hand it over to. The key in rental is insurance, which i don’t think you have for your gear.
Will pass the info around.
@Sandeep: Thanks dude.. Actually, this is just an experiment… just checking how this platform thingy can be shaped up.. a rental service is not in mind unless I am convinced of the viability of such a venture.. which I am not as of now.
Way.To.Go!
Hi there,Do you have 500mm and/or 600mm lens?
@Sathya: Sorry. No 500/600 mm lenses.
Good start Prem. Happy to help, if there is anyway I can.
Thanks Arun… how was your Zanskar trek?
I like this idea, peer to peer with respect, infact over the years I have been doing this sharing ranging from underwater casings, camera traps, big lens, wide angles, few DSLRs.
If collectively we could pool and add to this, everyone could get something he or she wants.
Sadly, I do it only for conservation projects.
@ VMR : Nice to see your comment here. Have a lot of respect for the work you do.
Let us see how this works out. Might contact you for advice as to how you manage it w.r.t conservation projects and how you deal with equipment repairs, etc.
Thanks for dropping by!

Hi,
Your link does not work but I am looking to travel with Toe Hold Tours for Ladakh and badly need a wide angle FX lens. The one I am looking at is 12-24 f/2.8 – if you do have one, I can produce the documentations required to rent from you.
Cheers
Hi,
Correction to the last post…
I needed a 14-24mm not the 12-24 which never exists lol…
